Our Passion
Economics Gateway is a UK-based education consultancy, specialising in the teaching of Economics, Business and the Social Sciences. We work with students in the UK and across the world, helping them to develop the theoretical knowledge, exam knowhow and genuine enthusiasm to excel in their studies and beat the odds with applications to elite undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
We love what we do and by staying focussed in a narrow range of subjects have developed an unparalleled depth of experience, resources and insider-knowledge. If you are seeking first rate tuition or want to maximise your chances of getting into your dream degree, please get in touch.

Tutoring
Economics is our passion and we choose to teach because we love it! Our students must do well in exams to pursue their high ambitions and we recognise the important responsibility that we have to offer complete support. We believe wholeheartedly that excellent exam performance will blossom from a true enthusiasm for the subject and so, as we teach the nuts and bolts of the syllabus and proven techniques for excelling in exams, we are always looking to stimulate a genuine interest in economics.
As a group we have more than 20 years’ experience tutoring the A Level and also call on our collective experiences teaching in classrooms, tutoring undergraduates and grading exams for Edexcel and AQA. All of our tutors are top graduates of Economics, Business and Social Sciences courses and are thoroughly assessed according to their references, experience and teaching skills. For your peace of mind we also undertake enhanced DBS checks on our tutors every 2 years.
- We begin with a comprehensive consultation by phone to discuss needs and aspirations.
- Students are then partnered to our most appropriate tutor according to exam board, aspirations and personal style.
- A tailored tuition strategy will then be devised between tutor and student (and optionally parents) to set appropriate goals and timeframes. This strategy will be entirely flexible and often allows for higher intensity during school holidays and exam leave.
- We embrace transparency and your tutor will send progress reports monthly by email. Please feel free to be as engaged as you like! Your tutor is accessible by email and phone whenever you want to talk privately.
- Of course exams are the crescendo. Stressful times often call for more regular and supportive coaching. Count on us to do all that we can to help calm nerves. In return we only ask that you share and celebrate your successes with us too!
Many of our tutors have studied Economics related degrees at Oxford or Cambridge and are perfectly positioned to guide and advise at every stage.
Applications
There is intense competition for places at top universities and it is harder than ever to stand out from the crowd. Furthermore, as you are no doubt aware, Economics, Business and Social Science courses are usually among the very most competitive.
Successful applications rely on strong academic performance and great references from school teachers but there is still much that an applicant can do to improve their chances. Whatever your ambition, our experience has shown us that authenticity is key to success. Develop a love of your subject, read widely and engage with big ideas, seek out experiences that will teach you something interesting. You can count on us for support at every step!
- Try to begin with a broad and open-minded search of courses and universities. You probably have some early preferences and a good idea of your predicted grades. This should help you to create a long list of prospects.
- Read, research, converse and experience as much as you can. At this stage you are attempting to develop reasoned “favourites” among your prospects and doing much of the ground work for your personal statement.
- Write some early drafts of the key ideas for your personal statement as you continue to refine your course selection. In both tasks employ critical reflection wherever possible. Do I agree with what I am reading? Is this course or university really a good fit for me?
- Finalising your personal statement can seem to take months but don’t underestimate the importance of getting it right. Take advice from people whose opinions you value but remember that your final submission must be a reflection of you. Authenticity is key.
Count on us for vital support!
